IBM SmartCloud Enterprise is an agile cloud computing infrastructure as a service (IaaS) designed to provide rapid access to security-rich, enterprise-class virtual server environments, well suited for development and test activities and other dynamic workloads. IBM has built a private catalog of images for SAP applications based on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and IBM DB2. Xavier De Romagna, IBM Executive Product Manager, SmartCloud for SAP Offerings, demonstrates the Rapid Auto Provisioning of SAP virtual instances in this video.
@Griff003 Thats what I've been trying to do with vmware... but the dificulties are far greater than i initially imagine, you can parse the SID but in a JAVA based installation you'd have to change all the folder directories which use the SID characters and I'm not sure but I think this violates SAP service agreements =(... I think this requires further engagement with SAP developers..

Hello - While the ability to roll out a pre-configured SAP image is great, in order to capture the actual image you would like to roll out, you would still have to go through the installation process at some point, correct? Wouldn't the only benefit be that you could perform a number of installations (app servers) ahead of time, for a later time when you might need them?
Additionally, I didn't see Xavier mention the ability to create a system based off a new SID name, so what is the net gain?
