This is an excerpt from the History Channels Gangland series, which taped here in Chicago a couple of years ago and got some stories of a particular gang in Humboldt Park. One of the stories featured goes back almost 20 years and speaks of three teen female gang members who were convicted of a revenge killing back in 1992. I remember this story as it was featured on the night's newscast on NBC Channel 5 and probably the other channels as well. As the girls were being taped walking through the police station, they flashed their signs to the television cameras. They also represented in their mugshots, if I remember right. It's a crazy story of young people making some interesting decisions in life. This story is repeated often in Humboldt Park and has a sort of legacy in the community. I also remember the day after the program originally aired on the History Channel, bootleg copies of the show were being sold on the streets. It seemed as if the exposure became a badge of honor for those connected with the gangs. My personal hope is that young people use these stories to make informed and smart decisions on how they're going to live as they grow up in these challenged communities.

Prime example of this so called brotherhood and love that fellow gang members have. In the end they turn on you. You are all alone. Get out now while you still can before it's too late. Family will always be there and if you have no family create one with the right person. Peace
