You may remember a nice little YouTube app called LazyTube that brought a decent YouTube app to Windows Phone when Google wouldn't allow Microsoft to create an integrated YouTube app themselves. Today, we see that same developer's new version of their YouTube app, and it's called MetroTube. The upgrade is an incredible example of how a Windows Phone app should be done. It takes YouTube thumbnails and overlays their titles with beautiful typography. The app also supports pinning certain contant like individual videos and video channels, all with very nicely designed live tiles that look great on your start screen. MetroTube even conforms to your theme and color settings and will modify itself to match.

  • WP7 apps are a breath of fresh air. I can't wait for this thing to kill Android and iPhone.

  • this app show the versatility of the Metro UI. Microsoft should hire the developers and make this the native YouTube app.

  • My next phone will be a WP7 one. I guess one of the nokia ones :P

  • Im also watching this in Metro Tube. Awesome app. Love WP!

  • This is so awesome there is nothing like this on other platforms lol.

  • @angel2901 Like people are supposed to take the opinion of such a qualified market researcher like yourself...

You're assuming just because a percentage goes down, that the number it represents goes down.

More people bought Android phones than Windows Phones this holiday.

However, WP7 is on an exponential growth course that is rationally faster than both iOS and Android, and if it keeps its course, will overtake and dominate both other platforms within a matter of one or two years.

  • @GaaraOfTheSand5 I do believe that there is a skin for Android that looks a lot like Windows Phone 7.5 OS. I don't know what it's called though.

However, its really hard to capture the snappy flow of WP7.5 with Android tools, as Microsoft has special tools built in to things like Visual Studio for building WP7 style interfaces. So, the WP7 skin for Android doesn't quite measure up to the Actual Windows Phone interface.

  • @loadstone007 Not neccesarially. Usually there are just 3 pivots, which doesnt require much effort and theres no need to target the button, you can swipe from almost any part of the screen.

  • @mrmotchmaster LOL! Yeah, because WP7 has such a HUGE market share, right? Its even shrinking!

  • looks a lot like the android app, thats a good thing!

  • I'd love to see

Funcionality of Android + WP7 UI

  • Sad to see the fan boys messing up the comments section... It's a great video anyway and Metro Tube looks fantastic!
