if only all GWR locos had a whistle like that

You would not want to sit on the smokebox, however! Next time it's raining and you are watching a steam locomotive, hear how the rain spits as it hits the smokebox. What it might do to somebody's rear does not bear thinking about.

I always wondered if it would burn your butt to sit on a locomotive's boiler while under way.
Now I know the answer.

A fantastic video I really enjoyed watching it. Now that chime whistle seriously gets on my nerves!
-
getting a wee bit steamy in the ash pit.

great video!!!!
That's a delightful video Peter. Sensitively filmed with some excellent camera work. The watering and disposal scenes were particularly striking. Add in a few more lineside shots and some more cutaways (!) and you have nearly a quarter of an excellent NNR DVD!
Keep up the good work

Very good video there! But the whistle doesn't sound like neither of the two GWR whistles.

Thanks Philip, Yes 6619's chime surprised me too! Not quite what I was expecting to hear! Sounds distinctly American to me (akin to the S160).
