They basically said Iceland's former wealth was due to all da fish they been catching, Iceland's main export being seafood. Then they started counting da fish before they caught it, taking out speculative loans, and when so much o da fish stopped getting caught, they go bust. Was anyone else immediately skeptical when they heard this shit?

Back when Alcoa was just getting started, there were a lot of Icelandic citizens trying to get its production halted and reached out overseas online (I signed an online petition to shut down the works. A lot of good that did). Iceland was then on it's way to becoming virtually resource and energy independent by this year. When I heard Iceland went bankrupt and the pathetic reason the media attributed it's crash to, I suspected Alcoa and the world bank had something to do with it.
