Apparently they said he lost too much weight far too fast and the shock to his system caused his stroke and subsequent death.One of the Greatest comedy teams.R.I.P.

An additional note. After the death of Ollie, of course Stan was retired. He lived in an apartment building alone. His phone number was listed in the phone book and he gladly talked to and invited fans up to visit him. He spent his days answering fan mail personally. He called his Academy Award statue "Mr. Clean" after the bald icon of the liquid cleaner. He was always kind, as was Ollie, to everyone. They were both gracious, kind, gentlemen.They are making angels laugh now. How I miss them.

@mvies77 Thanks for the imfo i am convinced by the fact that both of them were active members of their church, they are now in heaven together making people laugh i had heard both were very unselfish and given since they lived through the depresssion they had a sense i guess that some people were broke. Hollywood stars now seem to be mean and selffish and rude not all of them nice to know that Laurel and Hardy were brothers on and off the picture shows take care thanks again =)

@OEKCVB Ollie was a golfer and was social while Stan worked continually at the studio.Stan lived on his "ranch" in San Bernadino while Ollie lived in Hollywood.The studio took advantage of their separate contract dates & lack of realization of how popular they were to control them.But they were great friends, quick to say they never fought.Stan's child called Ollie Uncle.They worked together over 40 yrs.They were a wonderful team.Stan was the creative genius who helped write and produce.

@mvies77 I read that also that Stan and Hardy were true friends on and off the screen they both cared so much that both of them lost jobs in order to keep working with each other, they lived nearby and took many vacations together with the families when Ollie died Stan said he lost a dear brother and some said he was exremely sad and a loss of his best friend. Long live their memories as two kind souls makin millions laugh and bein so cool to each other!! ,aybe others can learn from this?
