The Great Barrier Reef!

Dive sites:

@ Milln Reef: Petaj.
@ Flynn Reef: Boulder's, Tennis Court, Gordon's, Little Tracey's & Tracey's Bommie.

Extremely nice diving, great viz and a beautiful 26-27 degrees Celsius. Went on a liveaboard trip with Pro Dive Cairns and had a blast. This is a very compressed compilation of what I saw, the night dive shots will feature in a later film.

Highlights:

Hawksbill turtle [0:52 and 9:04].
White Tip Reef Shark [2:21] (not a great shot though).
Giant Moray Eel [4:33] (though obscured by sand).
Nemos' [5:00 and 5:31].
Other clownfish [7:34].

Other than that there's plenty of stuff to gaze upon!

The Moray Eel was obscured by a careless diver who whirled up tons of sand as she left the site, sadly I did not have my diving knife with me at the time :(

Please keep in mind that this all the footage is from my Fujifilm F30, which is a standard compact camera, so everything more or less turns blue as you go below a couple of meters. I didn't have the possibility to adjust the white balance and I didn't have a strobe, so some of the picture have a reddish tint caused by the standard flash.

  • Beautiful waterworld. Looks like the paradise.

But aren't there any dangerous animals (Jellys, Snakes etc.) ???

If you like have a look to my new video "Dead Whales At North Sea Coast".

    Greetings from Germany

    Nils

  • @multivan2001 We had to wear a stinger suit (a thin wet suit) to protect us from jelly fish, though it wasn't really the season for them so we didn't see any, not that common at those places from what I heard. I saw just one snake but it just swam peacefully by me a couple of meters down. Saw stone-fishes as well, which are really deadly, but they were just lying there dead still. Lion fish are docile as well.

As long as you don't touch anything there should be no problem really :)

  • very nice!
