For the first time in more than 70 years, a steam train made its way between Carson City and Virginia City on the historic Virginia & Truckee Railroad on Friday, August 14, 2009. An inaugural run featured a ceremonial ride for VIPs, dignitaries, and politicians along a 12.8-mile reconstructed portion of the 16.7-mile original route between Nevadas sister cities.

I was all over this rare event but I was track side and not inside the train. I followed this V&T passenger train when it was the first revenue passenger train from Carson City to Virginia City on August 14, 2009. You can check out the video on my youtube account. Unfortunately my video camera was in for repairs at the time so during the chase I had to shoot only digital pictures of the train and make a slide show rather than have video but the slide show is on my youtube account.
