I've lived here almost nine years and I've never seen this happen. She pulled out around six accompanied by two tugboats. She was moving very, very slow. When she got a little ways down the river they spun her around and she came back to Pier 88. I haven't been able to find anything on the web as to what happened. She did finally leave at 11:30.

  • I was on board for that cruise - no.2 bow thruster went pop ;-) We were gutted too - honeymoon, and had arranged that night to eat at the open air restaurant as we sailed past the Statue of Liberty.... Stuck at pier 88 wasn't quite what we had in mind for our romantic dinner! Oh well! :)

  • @RensterUK That stinks!!

  • Again and Again Engine problem, this is not a lucky ship

  • Yeah, I read about all the problems she's had in the past.

  • Great video........I'd love to find out why the ship turned around and came back ?!?

  • Thanks! If you do find out let me know!! :o)

  • I was on Aurora earlier that year, major bow thruster problems and we had to spend a good 6 days in Auckland whilst she was repaired. Lovely ship, sounds as if she's jinxed to say the least!!

  • I was working on the ship at this time as a dancer in Headliners theatre Company. It was quite exciting, no major problems...we thought we might get another day in NYC but we didn't.

  • I feel bad for the people who went on that ship.

  • I Can put you out of your misery as i was a passenger at the time. One of the forward bow thruster motors burnt out and as a precaution we were assisted back into pier 88 and assessed for damage.
