@MrBlueSkyMrNight You heard this on the radio?? Sweet man, I think this song is addicting dude.

@MrBlueSkyMrNight He is just using his voice differently, it's still him lol this is my favorite song of his post Beatle.

I keep knockin her, knockin her up, theyre all my babies.

@wholewurld - I don't know if Paul made the call (to ruin the
pitch of his own voice - in this song). More likely, some jackass in a suit
made the call. I can actualy hear it. Some idiot saying "Oh it's not fast
enough." "And we can't get Paul to come back to the studio to re-record
the song faster....so let's just speed up the whole thing" (and make
Paul sound more like....a chipmunk?!?). I don't think artists (EVEN
PAUL MCCARTNEY) have complete creative control over their own music.

@MrBlueSkyMrNight i jam this song slightly slowed down (but same pitch) regularly and it definitely IS the way to go

@superman11978 Ok, I will give it a try. I am just a huge fan of his Venus and Mars, Band on the Run, era stuff which is pure perfection. Coming Up is just a bit strange to me--doesn't even sound like his style.

@Hot4Hutch Listen to the live version of Coming Up. I never really liked the album version -- strange effect that he put his voice through - but it's a great song live. My theory is that John heard the LIVE version on the radio and said "there's Paul" or whatever the quote was. Paul had a very different sound in Wings (Linda's vocals had a lot to do with that), so John was finally hearing his old buddy being his old self again, and it inspired him to get back in the studio.

I didn't know Paul was black...
I was doing homework when this came on the radio. Caught my
attention since it was new to me (especially liked the bass & that
long pause at 2:26). Instantly loved it. And the DJ "went off" praising
Paul when it was over. First time it was played on that station.
But years later, I felt that the whole thing needed to be slowed down
just a bit. Most of the time Paul's vocal sounds too "sped up" (given
the unusually higher pitch of his voice). Slower or as is - it needs
a "true" vocal...

That's where Michael Jackson got his sound from!
