I remember seeing the movie, "Summer of '42," when it was released in 1971. I thought then and still do...what an incredible theme song! Johnny Mathis sings the lyrics to perfection.. The song can be purchased on the CD, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Johnny.

one of the most beautiful movies of our time and this recording just tops it off ,the best ballad singer ever ,only once in a lifetime(for me) there comes someone like Johnny Mathis that interpret music with such astounding presence both seen and unseen ,its like a fantasy I am so grateful for all of these wonderful,wonderful uploads of Mr Mathis, I feel like its Christmas

I think there is so much double meaning to the lyrics in this song. I always liked the song, didn't realize how super the lyrics were, too. Really captures my feel of summer.
