@lfo98 Jeebus, you get EV'rything wrong -- classic troll tactics. Bye bye now
-
@oooooooooorly G'night Trollboy.
-
If you don't remember, you asked me "what the hell is a potential difference" after my first post. I offered to explain it to you, and you jumped down my throat. How, exactly, is this being passive-aggressive? I'm offering to teach you some basic mechanics that you clearly don't know, and which would help you understand a siphon better. There's no need to be so nasty.

@skoockum Glad you're enjoying yourself. You're along the right line with "as if you could help me", but for the wrong reasons.
-
@oooooooooorly You keep calling me hostile when your little passive aggressive ploy (offering to teach me when you clearly don't know shit) is the real hostility.
All I can tell you is that there's no need for you to be a troll, but if it floats your boat, I can't tell you not to. Really.

@lfo98 "I assumed that, in missing the quite blatant fact that the "hill" is a key aspect of a siphon"
You made two incorrect assumptions. The first being that the "hill" is necessary to the siphon action, and the second is just a product of the first, where you think that I missed a blatant fact that turns out to be just an incorrect assumption.
"I think you're beyond help."
You are truly hilarious ..as if you could help me. Tho I do have to thank you for the chuckle you just gave me

@skoockum Sorry I wasn't more concise regarding hills. I assumed that, in missing the quite blatant fact that the "hill" is a key aspect of a siphon, you wouldn't have thought that the term could be used in some peripheral sense in the description of a siphon. Is that the way in which you were thinking? Or where you just nit picking at irrelevant details because you have absolutely nothing constructive to say?
I think you're beyond help.

"Stealing terms?" Did it not occur to you that the reason the same language is used by multiple people is because they're the proper nomenclature to describe the physical system?
Really, there's no need to be so hostile. Lashing out and calling people "trolls" when they offer to teach you physics isn't exactly conducive to constructive discussion. Everyone else here has been completely civil - why can't you?
-
@oooooooooorly You've been stealing terms from my and other's posts to use in your own at almost exactly the same rate as Ifo98 has. If I didn't know better, I'd say that you and he are the same troll, baiting folk with a studied display of idiocy, but I do, so I wouldn't.
I honestly never knew that people thought air pressure had anything to do with syphoning. It just seemed so obvious it was gravity doing the work.

@oooooooooorly You said "Remember, the key aspect of a siphon is that the water goes first over a potential "hill" before dropping down to the energetically favorable state. Gravity does not provide the force that makes this motion possible."
This is blatantly wrong, completely without an intuitive grasp of physics.
Also, you spoke of surface tension being "suction" - and you think that the "hill" is a key aspect of the siphon, both entirely incorrect.
You have nothing to offer
