They are happy to survive their cancer, but then another problem surfaces for breast cancer survivors. Many develop a chronic disease that causes their arms and body to swell with fluid.
Called lymphedema, as many as 40 percent of women surviving breast cancer get the debilitating disease up to 10 million people in the United States.
There is no cure for lymphedema, but Vanderbilt School of Nursing researchers in Nashville, Tennessee think a new high tech high touch treatment will help suffering patients. Barb Cramer has the story in this Vanderbilt video news release.
