Fire starting DUAL STICK fire board THUMB ROPE hand spindle =========================
This is another way to make your hand spindle friction fire easy to start .. All you need is a small lenght of rope to tie two loops on each end for your thumbs , then slot the rope into a groove on the top of your fire spindle which allows you to put more and consistent downward force on your fire board..

Before when you would just use your hands and no thumb rope assist , you would always have to go from the top of the spindle, then work your way down and put downward force as you spun your spindle to make friction..You always had to reset , it would take a long time and it is not an easy way to start a fire.. This added rope attachment is a brilliant idea.. It gives you constant downward force and stabilizes the spindle somewhat at the same time.

Putting downward force seems to be the key to making more friction.. All the methods that use an additional wood handle or rock to put downward force onto the fire spindle so it creates more friction , seem to work the best and quickest..This thumb rope trick is the same concept but it uses rope to put the downward force so one person can make the fire with no assistance.

The dual stick fire board method is another useful tidbit of information , as if you are out scavenging wood for a fire , little sticks may be all you can find, so you need to know how to use two sticks as your fire board , or in certain situations, you may not make a fire.

@RDennyB Thanks but that is from the show man woman wild, i have yet to make a fire using this two stick fireboard method,, i always travel with a magnesium fire starter and a fire rod as a 2nd opinion, its like taking 2 lighters with you.. But if stranded for a long time, years even , that magnesium will wear out , so eventually i have to make a friction fire.. look into making CHAR CLOTH.. it helps making a fire start
