the only people who dislike this video are the rapists.

Alright, fair enough on the bullying point, however in a fight wherein say, somebody comes at you with a knife and the intent to kill, just about anything you do to them can be interpreted as self defense and therefore deemed acceptable legally.
-
@AwesomeLightbringer It depends on the situation and the attacker. I've ended fights with a single punch. Many times a bullying attacker doesn't want a fight. When they know you mean business, or are layed out by a single well-aimed strike, they have second thoughts. If I didn't worry about legal trouble after an altercation then I might bite a chunk out of someone's face or rip out their throat. I may win, but that could land me in prison, were I would have to fight every day, just to survive.
-
Legally perhaps, but that's more of a problem with a biased justice system. Secondly, I agree that different attackers can require different strategies, but if you are in a fight wherein you are legitimately threatened then the legal implications of properly defending yourself should be the last thing on your mind. Thirdly, if someone is in a fight, they expect pain. That's how a fight works. An attacker who would be deterred by one punch is not a large threat in the first place.

@Quintapus A joint lock, or similar technique, just isn't going to work very well on a dude my size or stronger, but is ideal if someone smaller and weaker attacks me. If a woman is attacked by another woman, the attacker is most likely not going to expect a knuckle to be jammed in her chest or a toe to be slammed between her legs, but these can be an effective deterrent that stops a fight before it ends up on the ground. The sex of the assailant and victim are a factor, practically and legally.

@AwesomeLightbringer Here are 4 scenarios, not counting multiple attackers. Man vs. Man, Woman vs. Woman, Man vs Woman, and Woman vs Man; with the first being the aggressor and the latter being the defender. Each type of situation should be dealt with differently. As a man, if I punch a woman who attacks me, I would be made out to be the bad guy even if she deserved it. So the best course of defense would be for me to restrain her with joint locks and holds instead of brute force. Continued.....

As a man, I can't really speak for how much pain it would or would not cause a woman to be punched in the chest. I do know, however, that if anyone of some musculature straight up puches you in the chest as hard as they can you'll feel it. I also know that regardless of how much pain being punched in the chest does or does not cause, the fact remains that in a real fight you shouldn't be aiming for the chest at all. Also, anyone who enters a fight should be ready to be hurt anyway.

@AwesomeLightbringer You have seen a very rare sight indeed. Find all the self defense videos you can and count how many have women playing the attacker. And I still say if a woman attacked another woman punching her in the chest would be a viable deterrent, whereas it wouldn't do much against a man. Unless, of course, you are a very strong dude and can break his ribs or punch him in the sternum and stop his heart. Everyone should tailor their self defense training to their own abilities.

A) I have seen women play the role of the attacker in self defense courses.
B) How the law views crimes in terms of sexism is irrelevant to being able to defend oneself from attack.
C) In terms of gender neutrality, I'm saying if I punch a man or a woman in the eyes they will react quite similarly.
-
@AwesomeLightbringer Then why do you never see a woman play the role of attacker in self defense courses? Here's two examples of non gender neutral self defense techniques. If you punch a guy in the chest it won't hurt that bad, but it would be pretty damn painful for a woman to have a knuckle driven into her breast. And if a woman stabs a man with a knife in self defense, it will most likely go over far easier in the eyes of the law than if a man stabbed a woman or even another man in defense.
Yay! Now rapists will know how to defend themselves against women after they watch this video. Way to go Just Yell Fire. Show the enemy what to expect so they can defend themselves! Since 80% of all non-domestic violence against women is committed by OTHER WOMEN then why do you only focus on male perpetrators and never defending oneself against violent females? If I hear someone yell FIRE I will run away and call the Fire Dept. once I'm safe. I will NOT come to your rescue. Use your brains!

you know how i found out about this dallas video? I saw it when i was eating a bag of doritos just now. It had her picture and said she was only 16 and put it all together. So i figured i would look this up on youtube and here it is. The desription for the video is the same word for word on what is in the bag. Gotta admire her achievments. If i didn't eat doritos and I often don't i wouldn't know about her or the vid i guess.
