Kawai!! My guinea pig will do that too! (but he chews on the bars of his cage instead.) some of the bars are about 1/2 the thickness they were when we first got him 6 months ago!

Guinea pigs like to chew on hard objects so that they can gnaw their teeth. Their teeth are always growing - they never stop growing. So guinea pigs, chinchillas, and other animals constantly have to gnaw their teeth kind of like humans have to clip their finger nails.
My sister's guinea pig prefers chewing on her cage. Other guinea pigs like chew toys. But they need something hard to chew on so that their teeth don't become excessively long - at which point a veterinarian has to cut them down.
