Naadohdi geht nach Wien, Österreich - Vienna, Austria

I would like to use a local music as a background for the travelogue and for Vienna; it was hard to choose one. Not because it is hard to find a good one, rather there are way too many good ones out there.

What else can you expect from the classical capital of the world? Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, the two Strauss, Schubert, Brahms and Schonberg called Vienna home, performed in the numerous music halls and supported by the Habsburg monarchy. The tradition still continues, round the year there are performances of different kind, orchestras, operas and ballets. The cost is not as cheap as in Eastern Europe, but certainly affordable.

The most famous son of the city Mozart dominates the tourist scene; there is Mozart Orchestra, Mozart tour, Mozart walk, Mozart house, Mozart memorabilia etc... So Mozart fans would love the place, if you are not one of them atleast read about him or watch the movie Amadeus.

Don't let this prologue and the video showing only classical performances make you think all Vienna has is classical music. It is a wonderful city, and a 30 minute ride on the tram will transport you to serene places. The Alps are not far away and it would have been nice to rent a car and drive into one of the alp towns and camp overnight. On board a Vienna-Geneva flight, I saw a number of small villages in the Alp valley, not sure whether they are on the Austrian side or Swiss side, worth checking up that region for a vacation.

Vienna is also well connected to other European cities. Munich, Prague, Budapest and Venice are not too far and there are regular trains to all these places.

We enjoyed our stay and would like to visit again.
