C-47 Initial check flight for plane and pilot Sherm Smoot at Estrella Warbirds Museum, Paso Robles, CA August 8, 2009. This plane underwent a 26 month rennovation after it's last formal duty with the Israeli Air Forces. It was flown Paso Robles CA after sitting dormant for 6 years. It was the first time this bird flew "home" to the US after it was manufactured in 1943-1944. Congratulations and thanks to all the volunteers who put countless hours into scraping, prepping, repairing, testing, restoring, refitting, testing, retesting, and testing again. The mission of the Estrella WarBirds Museum is to help restore military planes to flying conditions or to a static display. You can visit the Estrella WarBirds Museum at 4251 Dry Creek Road, Paso Robles, CA or on the web at http://www.ewarbirds.org
