Austin is known world wide for hippies, music and politics— which definitely makes for a diverse "weird" local culture. As George Bush went from the Governor's mansion in Austin to the White house in Washington there was a new wind blowing through Austin and in music cities across America. The incorporation of style, the value of American liberty and fear is reflected in the local culture.
This film follows the path of the Austin Music Community over the past 11 years and how artists, musicians and filmmakers succeeded in creating an audience for original homespun television media but was shackled when given the dubious task of turning a politically charged Public Access Channel (the FIRST Public Access Channel in America) into a "for profit" entity featuring Music and Arts on a 24/7 basis. Held together by shoe strings, Shiner beer, cigarettes, and a passionate community of radio, television and film industry devotees, the Austin Music Network survived on practically no budget and a lot of heart for years.
The Politics of Music in the Live Music Capital of the of the World. Appearances by some of Austin's most eclectic celebrities and public figures.

Somebody grabbed Austin TX by the neck and drowned it. Alex Jones is about the only cool thing in Austin right now. That Zoe chick doesn't realise that to feed her fat butt she and her kind have destroyed the city as far as do-it-yourself creative culture. Even driving through Austin is a cold experience now. Place is now a big zero. When the rents quadrupled circa 1990-2000, it was over. It is a yuppy nightmare now, tense, empty. Austin, TX got the corporate foot in the ass.
