Roda Roda Gila

"Roda Roda Gila" is a very multidimentional works. The basic notions of conventional graphic arts are still the mainground of this piece, as presented through the derivation of simple stencil like printmaking tecniques that are applied to the wheels that can be changed and reapplied to print different messages or images. Arya envisioned the similarity of the working principles between the etching press, the stamp roll and the bicycle. The bike become a mobile stamping roll generated with the pedals as the gears move.
Conceptually, it also takes one of the most assential ideas of printmaking: as a medium of communication. Arya pushes the medium further with a twist that offers a broad range of explorations that exceed the known limitations of prinmaking itself. The work can be seen various perspectives that make it highly interdisciplinary: it can be taken as an installation object, a unified grafic art piece and tool combined with performance, graffity-bombing ritual, and public art practice.
