Andrew Garfield takes over the role of Peter Parker, an outsider who gains incredible powers after being bitten by a radioactive spider.

at some point in the comic history he had glands under his wrist, i can't remember if they grew or were implanted.
but i'm glad they're keeping the reboot close to the comics

Have to agree w/you, the Tobey MaGuire Spider-Man movies were not very good imo. Each new release got just a little more boring than the previous one. Was never a big fan of MaGuire in the first place, so that didn't help. The new Spider-Man looks to be quite a bit better, and a lot more factual to the history of Spider-Man. Should be a breath of fresh air!

They are called Mechanical Web-Shooters! For nearly the entire 50 year history of Spider-Man those are what Peter/Spidey used to shoot web. The reason why he created and used them is because he did not have the ability to shoot web from his body like what was seen in those awful and very inaccurate Spider-Man movies starring Tobey MaGuire.

Spider-man is supposed to be a witty, wise-ass, scientific genius, and that's what Garfield plays. Maguire was a depressed, humor-less, dumb-ass who couldn’t invent anything.
And Maguire looked NOTHING like Spider-man, Garfield looks EXACTLY like Spider-man. And Newsflash-Spider-man is SUPPOSED to be a "typical handsome guy that all girls like," he's had at least six girlfriends, most of them hot like Gwen, Mary-Jane, and Liz Allen.
