the avanti record setter was never a "student project" It was fully funded by Studebaker in collaboration with their Paxton blower division. All Avanti "R engines were custom built versions of the Avanti R2, and were specially prepared by the Granatelli Brothers Racing Team in Long Beach California. Andy drove the almost street stock Avanti, and Super Hawk, and Super Lark to the most records ever set by a domestic American auto manufacturer. Many still stand.

Everyone watching this should take note that a Studebaker Avanti powered by it's real and extinct Studebaker, small 300 inch engine has gone 200mph. The clip may even be to the right, and it was a "student project".
So it doesn't seem that impressive for the latest after market big block turbo chevy to go another 30mph.....

Sorry. You lost me when I saw the belly button Chevy motor. Another bunch of guys with no imagination. Even twin turbo BBC's are common enough to be boring.

KICKASS STUDE

I always thought those old Studes looked pretty slippery, and I guess this confirms it! Did you use the original Stude engine?
