    I'm from Appalachia, but I believe that this is the most powerful version that I have ever heard of this song. You just took one of my favorite folk song and encompassed it into the struggles of today. Thank you for inspiring me.

    Florence Reece from Harlen, KY wrote the song. It was a call to miners to stand up against the oppressive and exploitive bosses that owned/managed the mines. It is a staple anthem of Appalachian pride.
