I agree, Good and Plenty. I never saw her do this role, but I saw her Elektra several times.That and her Tosca and Turandot were just not imaginable unless you actually heard them. And that's not even taking into account her definitive Isoldes and Bruenhildes.
When I saw this in San Fransisco on Septtember 30th, 1980, I couldn't believe my ears. When the curtain fell, people were applaulding, roaring, shouting and stomping their feet. All I said over and over was, " I can't believe it." Such was the beauty and power of Nilsson. And she didn't even need help on the high notes. Flagstad could never have sung this role in a month of Sundays. Brava Birgit !!
