This romantic melodrama, based on the science-fiction novel of the same name by Alexander Belyaev, became a box-office leader in the USSR in 1961. Actor Vladimir Korenev was doubled by the USSR underwater swimming champion Rem Stukalov. Awarded with the Silver Asteroid at the Trieste IFF of Science Fiction Films, 1963.

Great job! Who ever created this slideshow! Well done movie also, hard to believe it 1962, I saw this movie in 1964, when I lived in Soviet Union ( I was 4 years old!) Great acters! Thank you again!

I was born in 1967. My mom took me to see this movie when I was very young, don't remember exactly how old I was. I still remember some parts of this movie. This was in Saigon. I would love to get this movie with English subtitle for my kids to watch. Anyone knows where I can purchase a copy?
