Tyrian 2000 - LORD difficulty - 1.01: Tyrian

First level and first video. Who knows if I finish this run? Level 1 is hard enough. Went immediately for Plasma Storm--makes the boss much less of a pain, among other things. I ironically get a rear weapon powerup secret at the beginning... without having any rear weapon yet.

Tyrian 2000 has lots of hidden features, including a Lord of the Game difficulty. This is a recording of me playing through the game in LORD difficulty.

On difficulty selection screen:

Shift + G = Impossible
Shift + ] = Suicide
L+O+R+D = Lord of the Game

Today I started a run on suicide difficulty. Beat tyrian's boss without any plasma storms, got 60k off of soh jin (probably cheating but hey), got asteroid? off of asteroid1 and got stuck there. The needle ship duet at the end is augh - and once I got a strategy for dispatching them down, I keep dieing in the ending gauntlet. I know I can do it, I'm just not managing it.

I got stuck there too, and sort of stopped, but then my friend found the file and he tried it out and he eventually got past, even though my ship was kinda shitty

i used to play it on lord difficult on my old Pentium 133... then i got a new computer, awesome and all... and this $#%#@%@%@ keyboard CAN'T type L+O+R+D >____>

i hate this kb, anyone have suggestions? there's this $1.5k out there, but i want some affordable one XD this one dont even let me play guitar hero -.-'

for some reason I can't get the sound effects to work on my game... I'm using dosbox on XP. Any help?

try running setup.exe in dosbox and mess w/ it until both sound and music work

hey how aout you actually try to kill stuff so you can get better weapons and instead of the plasma storm just upgrade your pulse cannon. first level on LORD difficulty is actually quite easy still

Is there a particular reason you used hypercam to record and not dosbox's built-in recorder? You don't get the stupid tag or the edges of the window either. Just a suggestion...

Wow, this is pretty cool. I love Tyrian, but the best I've been able to do is suicide difficulty. Guess you guys have more skill than I.
