This commercial is fucking gay. And all the people that made this video are gay for participating in it. There's nothing wrong with saying "That's so gay" or "That's some gay shit" to express yourself as long as there's no gays around and you don't say it to a gay person. It makes sense and I'm sure most people can get the joke when people say things like that. No offense to anyone reading this who's gay.

@dexterxyz It shouldn't have to get to the very worst violations of human rights, before we react with something besides apathy to ignorance and bigotry.
-
@dexterxyz And challenging bigotry doesn't make you a bigot.

@eqsharp I wasn't comparing the histories. There are similarities and differences there(slavery, segregation). Gays were also illegal and executed, put into concentration camps. That wasn't the argument I was making though. All groups are still targeted for hate crimes and have been discriminated against. Bigoted expressions and opinions are just that(and you agreed these were bigoted), when applied to any of those groups. This was my argument.

@dexterxyz Trying to compare gays to Blacks and Jews is a nice try but laughable at best and offensive to many.
Blacks and Jews have struggled for tangible human rights. Like the right not to be exterminated. Like the right to live and not be a slave. Like the right not to be hung from a tree. The right to use a water fountain, a bathroom, or a seat on a bus.
Being called 'gay' is not a human rights violation. LOL. No matter how much you want it to be. Another reason y this video is lame.

Using gay to mean homosexual is not cool. It's offensive to happy people.

@eqsharp This would also make blacks and Jews bigots and hypocrites for not accepting or challenging the diverse opinions of the KKK or Nazis. Anyone who doesn't remain silent or passive and who uses critical thinking, will make things more difficult for oppressors and bullies in their beliefs. This is how needed and thoughtful social change happens. Not all opinions are equal. You can't support your opinion by saying it's an opinion. Anyone who debates or speaks is equally wrong?

@dexterxyz The point is, the gay community has shown themselves to be just as bigoted with videos like this. This video 'stepped into peoples lives' via a 'public setting' (tv) espousing a belief system that conflicts with what many of these people believe.
People have different beliefs and opinions when it comes to the 'gay' word. If you don't accept their values, beliefs, and opinions and feel the need to change them, then you're just as bigoted as they are and thus a hypocrite.

lol at these comments. These people...

@eqsharp No person is an island onto themselves. We all are part of society and interact with each other. We affect society, including how it generally thinks and behaves, in one way or another, in everything we do. Bigoted speech steps into the lives of the group at which it is directed when it's used in a public setting where people of that group are around, whether you're aware of them or not. In any situation, If there's unreasoned speech, there's a right to speak with reason too.
My guess is the video is probably directed at a younger audience, obviously it's plenty corny to us but hey at least it might get young kids that watch NBA to be a little less homophobic, especially in areas that might not get a message like that.
