Avalon Code DS gameplay 1

This video is a gameplay clip for the upcoming DS action RPG Avalon Code. It's developed by Matrix, who did the DS remakes of Final Fantasy 3 and 4 as well as the Japan-only (for the moment) Winds of Nostalgia. This video shows off the "Book of Prophesy" element of the game. The book is used in a variety of ways. You can alter items and even people and monsters using a touch screen grid. It's very unique, engaging, and fun. You can enhance your weapons, change the monsters' elemental affinities and strengths, and even complete quests given to you by people.

This game is coming out March 3 in America. It's being translated by XSeed. Thank them for being dedicated to bringing great Japanese RPG's to English speaking people. Hopefully they'll bring Winds of Nostalgia over too!

@Netaro1000 You hit people with the book to record their information. In this game, the world is set to end and it's your job to scan everything you see fit to carry over to the new world. You scan by hitting people with the book (and no the people can't see what you're doing with the hitting). :P

I don't believe there is any multiplayer. They had a wifi feature for the Japan version where you just trade book stats, but it was removed for the US game.
