My opinion is same as @robibm2003. Sachiko-san has been a very very popular singer either in Japan, Taiwan and even abroad.

Your comments about her being not intelligent, etc. are shocking. She is the most multi-talented one out there and can sing/do anything. You ought to watch her one-man shows - she's absolutely incredible. She's the kindest, happiest person there is and believe me, she is very bright. There isn't another singer who is anywhere near as HAPPY to be what he/she's doing than she is. She is so geniune; watch nodojiman and you'll see what a kind, happy, sweet, bright person she is.

The unfortunate fact is that Sachiko-san just isn't very intelligent and sometimes I wonder if she is more interested in merely being in front of the cameras than imbuing her performances with any real conviction. She has so much technique and an epic headtone, but often times doesn't seem to really know what to do with the songs she's given or chooses to sing.

how did you say the quality of her output is wildly inconsistent? is there issues that involved her?

For me, this is the best thing she ever did. This has a power and resonance to it that she has never matched.
Next to Hibari Misora, she was blessed with arguably the best enka voice ever.
However, she also isn't the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree and so the quality of her output is wildly inconsistent.
This is from the tv show Enka no Hanamichi and I was pretty pissed when they stopped broadcasting it in L.A. when I was still living there. Those sets were beautiful.
