@LTcrew - hmmm, I had read that Elvis Presley heard this song in 1947 and that was what brought him to Sun Records. I guess I need to keep doing my research.

Sue Records produced many fine records from the early stuff through to later music like Harlem Shuffle and the Righteous Brothers among very many others. A good example of the later work was an album (under the old LP format) called Best of Sue. I used to have this at one time. For the avid collector try to get this and you will be glad you did.

So THIS is the ORIGINAL version by Bragg??

Johnny Bragg was one nice guy when I met him about 10 years ago. Ever since he was released from prison, he told us that his daughter has been keeping him on the straight & narrow. He had also become a deacon in his church. I truly mourned his passing a few years ago. He gave this song to Johnny Ray who had a No. 1 hit with it in '56. I'm sure that had made him mighty proud. RIP Johnny.

@karleen30 Sorry to say, that's not a cousin. Still pretty cool though.

What a great song. This group never made a bad recording!
I had the great pleasure of meeting Johnny Bragg in New Jersey many years ago.
He told me great stories about The Prisonaires and The Marigolds, and how some young white kid named Elvis was always on the other side of the glass in Sun Studios when they were recording.
I just found out that the guitar player (William Stewart) of this group is my cousin. His mother and my grandfather (my mother's father) are siblings...
Awesome family discovery :)

"Just Walkin' in the Rain" is a popular song. It was written in 1952 by Johnny Bragg and Robert Riley, two prisoners at Tennessee State Prison in Nashville, after a comment made by Bragg as the pair crossed the courtyard while it was raining. Bragg allegedly said, "Here we are just walking in the rain, and wondering what the girls are doing." Riley suggested that this would make a good basis for a song, and within a few minutes, Bragg had composed two verses.
