2 of the 4 rescued Blue Throated Bee Eaters (BTBE) fbaby chicks rom the site under construction. They were dug out from 2 nests when the nests were under threat of being destroyed. The chicks from one nest had not been been fed for about a day already but the other nest was still active and being fed - but due to imminent construction work to be carried out at the nesting hole, the difficult decision was made to dig them out too. All in all 4 baby chicks were rescued from the last 2 remaining BTBE nests... 2 dead chicks were also found (one from each nest) as well as an unhatched egg and 'leftover' food (insects!)... Earlier last Saturday, another 3 chicks (bigger with feathers already) were similarly dug out and rescued from another nest ing hole which had been over run by an excavator..
