Ok so this video had the beginnings of a good instructional... then fell flat on it's face, because now I have to do ANOTHER search to figure out just wtf the rule of thirds is...

Is there a rule called "make sure the actors face is well lit and don't let him walk in front of a bright background"? If not, there should be.

Rule of thirds? Um, no. You used an angled shot in the second clip. The characters were in the centre, not placed on a thirds format.
Go back to class, do it agaiaiaiaiaiain.....
