I've seen a lot of videos of other versions of this song, and it's often sung by school choirs as a sort of academic exercise in part-singing: RT really restores the jeering, popular-music quality. You can imagine the local balladeer singing this down the tavern when some local stud (or local cuckold) walks in, to general hilarity. I love that sardonic guitar run he does at 2:40-2:42 (and the even more florid version at 4:00-4:03) to get back to the tonic.

@Romantic2; I got the chance to speak briefly with Richard, and I asked him what the tuning was. He told it it's a standard dropped D, or D-modal tuning, whereas the low E is dropped to a D. I said, "That's IT?!" He said, "That's it". I've been playing guitar for over 40 years, and I have to say, RT is amazing!
