THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY
Love & Kisses

Friday, thank God it's Friday,
Friday, thank God it's Friday,
Friday, Friday, Friday

Hey put a smile on your face
Things are coming your way
Out there somewhere tonight
It's the right time and place

"I saw you baby for the very first time
Couldn't take my eyes off you girl
You just had to be mine
You're the kind that people long for
It just had to be you
Girl I know this time i'll make all my dreams come true"

Hey see the stars in his eyes
And the music in you
Tells you how you can find
Your way to paradise

Friday, thank God it's Friday,
Friday, thank God it's Friday,
Friday, Friday, Friday

Hey (a-hey-hey)
Put a smile on your face
(put a smile on your face honey)
Things are coming your way
(everything's coming your way)
Out there somewhere tonight
It's the right time and place
Hey see the stars in his eyes
(you see the stars in his eyes)
Tells you how you can find love

Hey (a-hey-hey)
Put a smile on your face
(put a smile on your face)
Things are coming your way
(everything's coming your way)
Out there somewhere tonight (oh baby)
It's the right time and place
Hey see the stars in his eyes
(all those stars in his eyes)
Tells you how you can find love

Thank God It's Friday tells several intertwining stories of the patrons and staff of the fictional Los Angeles club The Zoo. These include:

Tony Di Marco (Jeff Goldblum) - owner of The Zoo. Lecherous and promiscuous, he's inordinantly fond of his car.
Bobby Speed (Ray Vitte) - the club's DJ, who's broadcasting his first live show from the club.
Frannie (Valerie Landsburg) and Jeannie (Terri Nunn) - two high school friends who want to win the Zoo's dance contest to buy KISS concert tickets.
Carl (Paul Jabara) and Ken (John Friedrich) - hopelessly near-sighted shlub looking for a casual liaison, and his friend looking for a girlfriend.
Dave (Mark Lonow) and Sue (Andrea Howard) - a young married couple celebrating their anniversary.
Jackie (Mews Small) - dental hygienist by day, drugged-out disco freak by night.
Jennifer (Debra Winger) and Maddy (Robin Menken) - the new girl in town taken to the disco by her know-it-all friend who's not as sophisticated as she thinks she is.
Nicole Sims (Donna Summer) - an aspiring disco singer.
Marv Gomez (Chick Vennera) - a self-described "leatherman" who lives to dance.
Malcolm Floyd (DeWayne Jessie) - the roadie for The Commodores, responsible for delivering their instruments to the club by midnight.
Gus (Chuck Sacci) and Shirley (Hilary Beane) - mismatched blind computer daters.
Sue insists her uptight accountant husband Dave take her to the disco. On a bet with Bobby, Tony tries to pick up Sue. Dave is drugged and re-named "Babbakazoo" by Jackie, and makes a fool of himself. Carl gets himself locked in a secured stairwell. Frannie and Jeannie finally manage to sneak in to the disco after several failed attempts. Jennifer tries to meet a guy, but Maddy vetoes each of the guys Jennifer is attracted to. Marv teaches Ken how to dance. Nicole tries desperately to slip into the DJ booth to get Bobby to play her single. Garbage collector Gus is horrified to learn that the dating service has matched him with a college educated women, and one who is taller than he is. Frannie, after tricking Marv's dance partner into the locked stairwell, enters the big dance contest with Marv. Floyd gets stopped repeatedly by the police on suspicion of stealing The Commodores' instruments.

By the end, Maddy ditches Jennifer to attend a hot tub party (with the same guys who came on to Jennifer). Floyd makes it to the club in time for the Commodores to play. But just before they go on, Nicole sneaks up on stage and scores a huge triumph singing Last Dance. Dave comes down and Sue ditches Tony. Carl and Marv's former partner hook up in the stairwell. Jennifer and Ken share the last dance. Gus and Shirley decide to give it a try. Tony's car, having taken innumerable hits from pretty much every other character's car, falls apart in the parking lot. And Marv and Frannie win the big dance contest. Deciding that the KISS concert is "kid stuff," Frannie and Jeannie, now self-proclaimed "disco queens," go with Marv to hit another disco for the 1 AM dance contest.

  • This Movie Launched the Career of Donna Summer. I'm still mad at all Those Haters that thought Disco was a Bad Thing. it wasn't all about the Beat it was about Dressing up and having a Good Time. Sadly this Generation knows nothing about it.

  • RIP Nightlife. People just don't know how to act in public anymore.

  • @BreezesofConey-Exactly! 20 years ago, I didn't see any ladies who looked like whores in the clubs I went to. Plus, everyone, guys included, cared about how they dressed. As you said, all you see now are women who look and act like whores, guys who wear sweat pants and a tank top to a club and think that is 'dressed up'. And the loser women are attracted to this? Of course, much of this can be blamed on the upbringing of these fine citizens who can barely tell you who is currently president.

  • @capitolguy106 How often did you see guys having to carry girls out of clubs because they were too intoxicated to walk in those days? I don't think any decent guy would have been turned on by such trashy, classless behaviour. That is all I see in the nightlife scene today. Slouchy arrogant guys with nasty bitchy women who all look alike (like cheap whores), bad mouthing, showing off, and criticizing. No dancing, not real dancing anyway.

  • The best thing I love to sit and reflect on, remember, is that beautiful women all went out to the discos on the weekend. They were wearing feminine dresses, jeans and t shirts, sporty blazers and trousers, etc. They did not have to dress like whores nor act llike whores to have fun and they were still pretty. It wasn't about showing off. We danced hard, not stand around looking at each other, talking shit and trying to act cool instead of partying. So sad the times we are in, no joy of life.

  • @perpetual61 I think ppl form their opinions based on a set of stereotypes they learn. Young ppl have no idea how difft those times were, in a good way, and that they r the unfortunate ones. Respectfully tho, Donna Summer was already well on her way by 1976 when Love to Love You came out. You're right though that there was more to disco than polyester suits and dancing like John Travolta, that is cliche. It was a mindset. It was all about getting along and having fun.

  • I love this movie love the music more ever friday the start of the weekend YEAH

  • @mrcrymnd Your last line is key. People have no class any longer. If you try to go out today, you find today's 20-somethings are all concerned about "respect" and if you look at them the "wrong way", trouble. Thankfully, my club days are done. All you hear about now are fights and shootings at clubs in all cities, even the supposedly "high end" clubs. As you said, it is because you have people, idiots, who do not know how to act. This includes people of ALL races and colors by the way.

  • I hate it how people always think THEIR generation had/has it right. Give or take individuals and unusual events every generation is the same, some have more drugs some have less, but the people are COMPLETELY interchangeable.

  • @perpetual61 you are correct!this was the first movie i watched on beta was it or VSH?what ever.100%fun!

  • Ahhh, back when Music, was Music!

  • In 78 I was 13 and loved this movie....As corny as it sounds we loved the disco sounds !!
