calipers are in 1000's of an inch readings, not hundreds...so your first measurement would be 263 thousands of an inch..there are 62 thousands in 1/16 of an inch.....

machinist need more precision measurements so they use the 1000's of an inch readings.
for what I'm doing you only need 100's of an inch readings, but if I was measuring High Security locks I would use 1000's of an inch as they are machined with better precisions
there are so many calipers out there it's mind numbing

Yeah, but for some reason the uneducated still call it Masterkeying! People who understand the mathematics of masterkeying know the number of shearlines created by pinning two randomly bitted keys! It's not good!

That would be a dial caliper, and not a micrometer.
