I often get asked if it is possible to pour concrete in cold weather. The answer is, OF COURSE! Places all over the world always stay cold and have no choice but to pour in the snow, so somewhere like Charlotte NC can literally pour all year wrong. You can add Calcium Choloride to the concrete to help accellerate the curing time, and then cover it with heater blankets (or even plastic and hay like in this example). I have my own rules of when it is too cold, because many times it is simply more cost effective to wait a cold spell out here in NC, but if waiting isn't an option, then just add accellerator, and insullate the concrete.

NOTE: In this example I actually had to use a non-chloride calcium additive because of the metal flashing. Chloride eats metal, so if you have any rebar, mesh, or flashing, USE NON-CHLORIDE ACCELLERATORS!!!!
