Well because I've never seen RRs on the big van ambulances near me, I never thought the paramedics would have them... and I was wrong! :)

they sure do....on the control console there is a button which says (Arrive Scene). This turns on the rear reds as a warning to all aproaching traffic from the rear. When you press (Leave Scene) it cancels them...simple
