why would a spanish speaker need to learn catalan ? I am a spanish speaker and never studied catalan and understood every single word she said .. I also speak portuguese and it has less similarities to portuguese than it does to spanish or french , so do not believe anyone who says otherwise most of these comments are BS!

@BLOCKEDbyPOM I dont know who you are or where you come from, but before talking about anything you should at least read or know something about it, and catalan was NEVER considered a Dialect from any other language, and what you said about 95% of french and spanish words is something you just made up if that was a fact catalan french and spanish would be inteligible languages, and they are not, but well by your comment I can see that you wouldn't be able to understand any arguments,

@BLOCKEDbyPOM excuse me? haha you're clearly missing the point, when did I mention anything about politics? Im exclusively talking about linguistics, and that Catalan people are bilingual does not mean that Catalan was a dialect from spanish, its just that they speak their native language, and a foreign language they have been forced to learn, take Finland for instance, in many parts of southerns Finland people are bilingual using Finnish and Swedish, that does not mean they are dialects.
