Carlos Ray "Chuck" Norris (born March 10, 1940 in Ryan, Oklahoma) is an American martial artist and actor. After serving in the United States Air Force, he began his rise to fame as a martial artist. In 1974, at the age of 34, Norris had been the Professional Middleweight Karate champion for six consecutive years (1968-1974). Chuck Norris appeared in a number of action films and was The Cannon Group's leading star in the 1980s. He next played the starring role in the television series "Walker, Texas Ranger" from 1993 to 2001. Chuck Norris also created the martial art Chun Kuk Do (CKD - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chun_Kuk_Do), which is based primarily on Tang Soo Do and includes elements from every combat style he knows.
Martial arts expert, action man, family man, religious man, movie star, television producer, humanitarian and internet super-hero, Norris wears many hats, all of which seem to fit rather well. He certainly doesn't lack energy, drive and good will. Perhaps it can all be traced back to his childhood, which he described as downbeat, and when he was abandoned by his father and bullied by his fellow pupils. It may have been his bleak beginnings in life, which provided him with the determination to succeed, and to continue doing whatever he does with determination and integrity.
