This demonstration shows how to use some of the buttons that appear in the Speech Assistant software, and invites feedback on how it could be made more useful.
Thanks for raising this idea; I'd not considered this before. I've not felt input at a physical keyboard to be as interesting as handwriting or using the on-screen keyboard in the Speech Assistant. But having the hardware buttons which map to keyboard key presses result in specific action within the program really sounds interesting. I've just uploaded another video of a test I've just done to map the "Enter" key press to the Speak button. I'll update the software as I get specific requests.
