@lofi73 No, it was obviously not necessary! The destruction of civilian homes has nothing to do with war! It was about the destruction of the German civilian population.

Interesting footage - at the beginning you can see the destroyed Reichskanzlei and Goebbels Propagandaministerium - Wilhelmplatz. The Wilhelmplatz was torn down by the soviets to the end of 1950, the sad thing: most of the beautiful buildings were intact. And very nice footage of the german Kaiser Wilhelm national-memorial (torn down 1949/50) in front of the old Berlin City-Castle before it's destruction (1950) by the east german gouvernment.

@sonicbreaker00 Yes, but slavs also made a good chunk of the holocaust victims, maybe up to 2 million non jewish poles, 10 million soviet civilians, and 3 million soviet prissoners of war. I think that those bombings over the German population weren't in response for German crimes. The western allies bombed those cities because they don't wanted communists to have all that infrastructure after the war's end. Just look at Dresden or Berlin, they are in the EAST part of Germany.

@apocalypticmadman You have a very good point. We, Americans, talk about the holocaust in terms of the Jewish victims because of the sheer number – 5 million exterminated for no fault of their own. I don’t think there were as many Romani / handicapped / gay folks who were exterminated.

@BulsarDe BUT .. it was necessary ... don't cry over this video ... didn't the German Nazi regime kill 6 miliion innocent people whose only fault was that they happened to be Jewish ?
