I admit that I was late to understanding her talent, until one day I listened to her objectively and realized the depth of it, and her courage to present songs like this. Tackling a jazz standard with an entirely new sound. Funky, jazzy, anything but "poppy". She had an immense talent and was clearly a heads above the crap that characterized as trendy. Because she was a new trend, refreshing and fearless to be make her own sound. Burned hot, but blew out to early.
