  • I've been looking for this information on the safety of rubber hoses for a long time. Thanks for such a good video.

  • @bentonrp Thanks for watching. Just be sure to check your labels carefully. If you can't find information on the hose, don't buy it. Plain and simple. Feel free to check out our other videos. Subscribe if you like. ;) -Randy

  • @GettingThereGreen The rubber / recycled rubber hoses are safe, right? I'm just wondering if I should return the rubber ones I just bought... which were suppose to replace the PVC ones... I just returned...

  • @bentonrp Rubber is a natural product. It is safe. We found is it is the fittings at the end that have lead in them. Any traces of lead in the hose at all there should be a warning label... and that is also dependent on what state/country you live in. I have found that here in Canada companies are able to display without warning labels. Found a few in WalMart with no warnings or anything on them here. So I stuck to the mainstream. If you got rubber hoses you should be fine. ;) -Randy

  • So what did the recycled rubber hose company say about their product?

  • @RadioWammo When we called them they said that their rubber hoses were 100% lead free and safe. You need to look for drinking safe hoses or rubber. That was all they told us. The other hoses they put lead not only into the hoses but also into the couplers.

  • Thanks for the warning - I never knew this! It all sounds so ethically and morally wrong.

Just goes to show how profit takes priority over everything - but hey, don't get me started on that one LOL!

  • Wow thanks I had no idea! Great warning!

  • This is good info ,thanks!

  • @GettingThereGreen Cool thanks. Good to know because i just went right out and bought one and put it in the garden. But then it kept me awake one night wondering!

  • @llcyll I had actually called the company. There is lead in the PVC as well as the brass connectors. I was surprised when they admitted it and actually forcefully warned me not to drink from it. Must be some potent stuff in the hoses that are made with PVC. There are some aluminum fittings that are manufactured without lead as well. :) Thanks for watching! We have many other videos, would love for you to subscribe and let us know what you think.

  • It is because they actually use lead in the process of making PVC. Very little people know that and as the PVC, which is what so many things are made of today, begin to break down they can release chemicals (yes, I believe including lead)... It is so pathetic how far our government goes in preventing dangerous products from being sold...
