well AC/DC managed to do that up to the 90's.
Whole Lotta Rosie was played 40 seconds faster then it's album counterpart on the live version in donnington. but they kinda slowed down their pace after that XD.

Saying that a punk rock song is being played too fast is like saying that blue oyster cult has too much cowbell.. or that a jazz song is too improvised. I dont get it. This is the best performance of Blitzkrieg Bop i've ever heard!!
