2 ways to do it clean and well . 1) use a 280xz hood cowl , 2) look on summitracing for steel cowl hood scoops. though its to long for the oem hood ,so youll have to do some fab work . ive tried to get a few fiberglass companies to do a raied cowl hood, ubt no luck , as the v8's become more popular im sure someone will produce one, but the vh is so wide, and it depends on your mounting. i cut my pan and have a cooler to compensate for a good quart or 2. built 7 VH's, made mine 5 yrs ago

its all about headgaskets, the pistons and rings can handle 500HP if well tuned, problem is no one makes an aftermarket headgasket , so even if you build the bottom end , ir you go oem you still have to worry. plus when the motor and heads are decked , you gain compression, best to just build it for na , i make 320 and 304 in my daily on stock ecu. if you do boost , the motors are so cheap , kinda who cares if you go through 1 a yr. also , always do the chain guides and under plenum hoses .

I am currently in the process of cowling the stock hood, it sits about an inch and a half proud in an s13 with the oil pan level with the factory crossmember.
