  • Is there any kind of PAL/NTSC issue with reading SD from the GC? The reason I ask is because I have a PAL GC and am considering modding it, and am wondering about if I'll be more limited than if I was using an NTSC GC.

  • @Swenglish PAL gamecubes actually seem to be more compatible than NTSC ones. If you are considering this mod you may also want to look into the WODE. It also is working with the GC. For more info check out the gc-forever forums for the full tutorial on getting this working :D

  • @Ashen123451 Amazing. I've been checking out both the GC-Forever and Moddedbybacteria forums and got a bit lost. Somebody posted something on gc-forever about a knockoff wiikey that comes for cheap in packs of 20 (SKU-1900), but that thread kind of went nowhere. Has anyone confirmed that to work with GC, or does it have to be a proper wiikey? And is the SD card reader separate from the wiikey (and if so, is it just any SD card reader, or a specific type)? Sorry for asking so much.

  • @Swenglish to avoid confusion i'll just say that the chip you are thinking of that particular post was made about is not the chip that we are using to load from SD on the GC. The chip we use is the "Wiikey Fusion" which includes its own SD card reader that attaches right to the modchip. The original "Wiikey" and "Wiikey 2" were just modchips for loading backup discs on the Wii. Just google up Wiikey Fusion

  • @Ashen123451 Thank you, this is clearly an area where I'm lacking information. I see the fusion costs a bit, but I think I'll get two anyway. Probably best to think ahead. Does it boot its OS from a special SD card, or how does it work? Internal OS, and SD Card just for disc images?

  • @Swenglish The Fusion boots its linux based boot image right from the chip. Firmware is update-able from the SD card and (iso's) games are loaded from the SD card as well.

  • Where did u get that flush switch i see there on top the eject switch?

  • Any lags during gameplay?

  • @Ashen123451 How big is the SD card? It would probable have to be big to hold a lot of gamecube games right?

  • i dont suppose i could order a pre made one from you? i wouldnt know were to begin lol but this is just what im looking for :)

  • @Ashen123451 Were you able to update your firmware to 1.5 from the gamecube? or did you have to do that on a Wii before you soldered the wiikey to the gamecube?

  • @Ashen123451 Thank you very much for all the info:) I should hopefully be able to figure out where to solder it to by comparing the forum threads to the hardware.
