@magchu6 - Hi!! I know it's hard as a student to have confidence, but sometimes you have to fake it until you start to feel more comfortable. Keep working on it. It will happen. =)

yea :) u can also gain confidence by just talking to your patients as if they are ur friends..like telling them how beautiful their hair is..whats their favorite tv show and stuff like that :) from then on they'll feel comfortable with you and talk to you more :) helps a lot during assessments :)

@PhenomenalAbby Exactly!! Feeling comfortable with your patients and their families makes all the difference.

Thanks Heather! I just finished my first nursing clinical and my instructors only issue was that I need to be more assertive and show confidence when preforming skills. Any tips on nurse to patient communication.... every time I go into a pts. room and tell them I need to perform an assessment they ask 'What's that?' and from there it just throws me off....

@heyballard -Hi!! They probably just don't know the term assessment. So, maybe say, 'hi I'm so and so. Can I listen to your heart and lungs?" Then tell them what you are doing as you do it. Ex. I'm going to check your feet for swelling. That usually works well. =)

I'm in clinicals and last week I was in OB and I was so out of my element! I don't want to go back to OB!

@lovelyaley Hi! I didn't like OB either. I felt lost and confused during that clinical. At least it's only like 8 weeks.=)
