Hello cutensxcgurl....so sorry to hear about the tendonitis in both achilles. I did not have tendonitis or any other issues with my achilles before it ruptured....for me the injury was was just a fluke I guess....it ruptured while I was playing XBOX Kinect. I have completly healed from the injury since my surgery about a year ago. Good luck!

Hi Patel, my "normal" gait returned at approximately 14 weeks post-op.....I had just spent a week at the beach and think walking on the sand every day helped to rehab my healing achilles. Before you know it, you'll be back to your "normal' gait and back to doing the activities you love. Good luck and speedy recovery !

hi susan, thanks for putting together your great video and wow what a recovery you made in a short time....i tore my achilles on dec 4, 2011 playing squash and had surgery dec 9...i'm at about 7 weeks and doing physio since week 5...however i'm walking with a pretty bad limp...when did you notice your walk getting back to "normal"? thanks patel
Love the video! You've given me some hope! I ruptured my right Achilles playing football on 11/18/11 and had surgery 12/2/11. I was making tremendous strides in therapy and 10 weeks post-op was walking great. Unfortunately, I had a trigger happy Assistant PT, and during my first therapy session of week 11, my Achilles "popped" again while doing 4 corner square hops. Luckily it wasn't a full tear, but was enough to set me back a month or two. How long after surgery were you hopping and jumping?

Hello nothingdefaced, Wow---I'm so sorry to hear about your setback, thank goodness you did not completely re-rupture your achilles! I was weightbearing pretty early on in my recovery (PWB at 10 days post-op, FWB around 3-4 weeks post-op). Personally, my initial goal was to return to running as quickly as possible.....hopping and jumping wasn't part of my rehab, mostly flexibility and strengthening exercises for the first 12 weeks post-op. Please be careful with rehab...take care! Susan

@susanlfleming Thanks for the reply! 6 weeks post-op my hard cast was removed and was PWB right away, FWB within a week (No walking boot whatsoever). If my little setback didn't occur on 2/14, I'd probably only be a few weeks behind where you were week 12. Now in a walking boot for the first time and am unsure when I'll be able to restart therapy. Did you receive any ultrasound therapy or electo stimulation? Do you find yourself limiting your activities in fear of reinjuring?

@nothingdefaced--- I did not receive ultrasound therapy nor electro-stimulation. I did use an underwater treadmill quite a bit early on in my rehab.....I think this helped to speed up my recovery. I stopped formal PT around week 10 post-op and continued my daily rehab exercises at home. Early on, I was a bit fearful of re-rupture, but I trusted my doctor-approved rehab protocol. Hang in there---it eventually gets better! Best wishes, Susan
