    the way they always explained it to me when i was a younger dancer was thus.

    Ballet and Jazz married and had a son and a daughter

    The son was Modern

    The daughter was Lyrical.

    Modern is more so of free, deep, powerful movement. It tells a story of its own. It has the grace of Ballet, but the deep manly power of jazz.
