Nils writes: I took a sleeper train to Nongkhai on April 4 and continued my trip to Tha Naleng in Laos via the Friendship Bridge the next morning. Here is a video of the crossing over the Mekong River. Note how the road on both sides has been closed off with heavy iron gates to block all car traffic on the bridge as the train goes over.
Unfortunate thathey did not place the track on one side of the bridge.
At least vehicle traffic in one direction would be able to traverse the bridge at the same time as the train.
Could they not allow motorcycles and small cars to continue?
They must close the bridge many minutes before train arrival to allow traffic to clear.
